Best Boy is about as "pop" as a power-pop album can get. Thankfully, Pen Pal's sound is more friendly than it is chirpy or juvenile, and this keeps Best Boy from ever growing irritating. When the band lays reverb and synths onto tracks like "It's All Good," they find a Britpoppy tone that's rather appealing. For fans of pop/rock, Best Boy is a must. |
